An extravagant Regency rosewood console. Standing on a plinth base, with carved "egg and dart" molding and above are bold carved scroll supports with original gilding and a mirrored back which is also original. The console is finished with a highly decorative Sarrancolin Ilhet marble top. 890mm high, 670mm wide and 430mm deep. English. Circa 1825.

N.B.

Sarrancolin Ilhet marble is extracted in the village of Sarrancolin, in the Hautes-Pyrénées department. The quarries were exploited extensively under the reign of Louis XIV, and from 1692 they were considered “royal quarries”.
